Brazil’s Minas Gerais Floods: 23 Dead, 47 Missing
The Brazilian state of Minas Gerais is experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to floods and landslides. Due to heavy rain at least 23 people have lost their lives, while 47 are missing due to the floods. The worst-hit area is the city of Juiz de Fora, which has experienced the rainiest February in its history. The rainfall has been so intense that it has doubled the average rainfall of the month. The government has declared a state of calamity to help rescue those affected by the floods. Hundreds of people have lost their homes.
